So this last weekend hubby and good friend leave to go hunting. This is very serious business to hubby, he likes to be out in the woods at the crack of dawn. Good friend, not so much. Hubby is all set to leave at 5:30am and good friend gets here at 6:30. Ahem, nuff said. Thankfully they don't have to drive to far to the "honey hole". Good Friend says Hubby told him they were just gonna take a peek and see if they could see some cows (elk). GF now says this means bring everything and the kitchen sink with you on the trip. Long story, short they spot these elk and start off to get closer for a good shot. As they are heading down a draw Hubby asks GF, "do you think I'm crazy?" almost as the words leave his mouth Hubby falls down into some snow and ice. "don't answer that" Hubby says to GF. Oh yeah, read the previous post to see a synopsis of our weekend weather. They get to elk and Hubby makes his shot (that's right, just one). GF says, "If this is what you'll do for a cow, I'd hate to see what we're gonna go through for a bull!"
So everyone who hunts knows that the real work comes after the kill. They had to drag this cow up a hill and back down to a creek where they could get to it a little easier with the truck. Needless to say both were completely worn out by the time they got back to the pick up. They had decided to go back up the next day to get the cow out when along comes a man on a rhino (note: this is an all terrain type vehicle, not a rhinoceros) and offers to go and get elk with Hubby and bring it back to the truck. Thank you rhinoman! It was really a blessing because with the way the snow was coming down by this time there probably would have been no retrieving it for quite some time. So thanks for a great and memorable hunt GF!
